Fire Extinguisher AMC & Refilling Services - Ahmedabad, Gujarat & Across India
Fire Systems Pvt. Ltd. is a leading safety and compliance partner in India. We offer certified fire extinguisher refilling, annual maintenance contracts (AMC), gas filling, pressure testing, and service register maintenance in strict compliance with IS 2190 standards for commercial offices, industrial plants, residential complexes, and public institutions.
Why Fire Extinguisher Maintenance Is a Legal Requirement
A fire extinguisher that is empty, discharged, or past its service date is legally equivalent to having no fire extinguisher at all - and may result in non-renewal of your fire NOC. Under Rule 54 of the Gujarat Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act and the provisions of the Factories Act, all fire extinguishers on premises must be maintained in serviceable condition, tested, and recorded in a service register.

Annual Inspection Visual check of cylinder body, hose, nozzle, pressure gauge, and safety pin.
Refilling & Recharging Refill with correct agent type and quantity per manufacturer and IS specifications.
Hydrostatic Testing Mandatory testing every 3–5 years (per IS 15683) to verify cylinder shell integrity under hydraulic pressure.
Service Label & Record Affix service date, technician name, and next service date on each cylinder, and maintain the register.
Replacement Supply Worn-out or condemned cylinders replaced promptly with certified new ones.
Placement Audit Verification that extinguisher type, quantity, coverage, and placement meet IS 2190 occupancy norms.
Staff Demonstration Brief demonstration of correct extinguisher use (PASS method) for designated first-responders.

How Many Fire Extinguishers Do You Need?
Selecting the correct quantity and capacity of fire extinguishers depends on the risk class and total floor area, as outlined under IS 2190 regulations:
| Building Type | IS 2190 Requirement |
|---|---|
| General occupancy (low risk) | 1 x 9-litre water or ABC per 200 sq.m. floor area |
| General occupancy (moderate risk) | 1 x 9-litre water or ABC per 100 sq.m. floor area |
| Industrial / high risk | Based on specific fire risk assessment |
| Commercial kitchen | Minimum 1 x wet chemical in kitchen; 1 x CO₂ for cooking equipment |
| Server room / electrical |
CO₂ or Clean Agent Only Water and powder prohibited to protect sensitive electronic infrastructure. |
Frequently Asked Questions - Fire Extinguisher AMC
Find answers to common questions about fire extinguisher AMC services, refilling, hydrostatic testing, and GIDC coverage:
IS 2190 and most fire authority requirements specify annual inspection and servicing of all fire extinguishers. Hydrostatic pressure testing is required every 3 years for most types and every 5 years for CO₂ extinguishers. Service records must be maintained on-site.
Hydrostatic testing involves filling the extinguisher cylinder with water and pressurising it to 1.5× working pressure to check for leaks, cracks, or deformation in the cylinder shell. This test is required periodically to ensure the cylinder remains structurally safe under the pressures of normal use and refilling. Cylinders that fail hydrostatic testing must be condemned and replaced.
Yes. CO₂ extinguishers are specifically recommended for electrical equipment fires - they do not leave residue (unlike dry powder) and are non-conductive. They are the preferred type for server rooms, switch rooms, and electrical panels. Do not use water or foam extinguishers on live electrical equipment.
A fire extinguisher needs refilling if the pressure gauge reads in the red zone, if the safety pin has been removed and replaced (suggesting partial discharge), if the last service date is more than 12 months ago, or if any physical damage (dents, corrosion, blocked nozzle) is observed. When in doubt, have it serviced - a partially discharged extinguisher may fail to extinguish a real fire.
Yes. We provide fire extinguisher AMC services across Ahmedabad's industrial areas including GIDC Vatva, Naroda, Odhav, Changodar, and surrounding industrial estates. We manage scheduled servicing for multiple factories under a single AMC contract.
