FS20X -Multi-Spectrum UV/Dual IR/VIS Fire and Flame Detector


Based on the reliable and high-performance SS4 detector, the FS20X represents a significant leap forward in the integration of infrared and ultraviolet detection technologies. The FS20X is a multispectrum, dual UV/IR/VIS flame and fire detector. It features a proven UV sensor with a sunscreen. The FS20X offers faster fire responses (without false alarms) over a wider temperature range and a much broader detection range than conventional UV/IR detectors.
Conventional and older UV/IR detectors, which use 4.3-micron “narrowband” IR sensors, will not react to fires with heavy smoke or if the detector lens is contaminated with oil or other substances, because the UV and 4.3-micron signals are attenuated, obstructed, or absorbed by the thick smoke or lens contamination. Furthermore, these older UV/IR detectors will not trigger an alarm if installed behind ordinary glass.
The two microprocessors ensure high intrinsic safety, as well as fast and reliable performance. The master microprocessor performs high-speed digital sampling and signal processing calculations, while the slave microprocessor handles the various sensor data, performs self-diagnostics, and provides communication and interface versatility: it also provides additional memory for storing the event log and FirePic™ data.
The FS20X detector has a detection range exceeding 200 feet (with a very high sensitivity setting) to detect a one-square-foot heptane reference fire, and its field of view, in terms of volumetric coverage, is significantly greater than that of most UV/IR detectors. Therefore, fewer detectors are required compared to other manufacturers’ solutions.
